Our Story

Located in Modesto, California and serving clients throughout the Central Valley and Bay Area, Bavaro Employee Benefits, Inc. was founded by Nicholas Bavaro in 1988 and was built on a solid foundation of excellent client services and in-depth knowledge of the employee benefits profession. A recognized leader within the employee benefits profession, Bavaro Employee Benefits, Inc. are passionate about delivering outstanding client services with utmost attention to every detail of the employee benefits process.

Nicholas Bavaro has been an employee benefits advisor for more than twenty five years. Prior to beginning his employee benefits career, Bavaro worked several years in the banking and financial services industry and as a congressional aide to a California Member of Congress. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics from the University of the Pacific and his Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Southern California. Respected for his professionalism and knowledge of the employee benefits industry, Nicholas Bavaro was appointment by then Governor Pete Wilson to serve on the California Citizens Compensation Commission as the benefits expert. Bavaro served the Governor in this capacity for seven years. A lifelong resident of Modesto, California, Nicholas is married to Diane Ericson Bavaro. Nicholas and Diane have two children, Christina and Eric. Nicholas and Diane enjoy traveling in their spare time.

Sonia Thomas is the client services & administration manager for group & member services at Bavaro Employee Benefits Inc.  Specializing in Operations, ThinkHR set up, Client Care Administration, Cobra Administration, & claim appeal processing. Sonia has a business and medical background and the understanding of necessary procedures in processing claims. She is dedicated in staying updated and educated in her field.


Blanca Contreras is a resident of Turlock, CA and a graduate of John H. Pitman High School class of 2010. She went on to Modesto Junior College to continue her education and earned two Associate’s degrees: AA of Natural Science and AA of Health & Physical Education. Later she transferred to California State University, Stanislaus where she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Kinesiology with a concentration in Health & Wellness Promotion. Blanca’s passion for the health and well-being of others is what makes her job as Administrative Assistant worth it. Her strong communication skills and clerical background enables her to oversee the data processing and client follow up for Bavaro Employee Benefits.
